MOTIVATION AND ENTHUSIASM

Do you lack enthusiasm or motivation? Does the way you think and feel make you unhappy? Do you feel indifferent, dissatisfied or bored? Motivation is your inner drive. It’s what powers you to take action to reach your goals. But we all lack motivation at some point in our lives, whether it be within a job that doesn’t feel fulfilling, studying a subject that doesn’t interest us, or just tackling the mountain of chores at home. We know that we need to be doing these things, but something is holding us back and stopping us.

There are many reasons why people feel unmotivated, never finishing what they have started or procrastinating and developing avoidance techniques.  A common symptom of depression is called ‘anhedonia’ which is the lack of interest in activities, especially ones that once used to give us pleasure.
A fear of failure can prevent people from achieving their goals, it can feel safer not to start rather than try and not succeed.
People with low self-esteem believe that they are not capable of succeeding and often self-sabotage their efforts, their heads full of self-doubt and excuses. Feeling stressed and overwhelmed can stop many people from reaching deadlines and goals, it takes a lot of energy to feel stressed leaving us feeling exhausted to do the things we need to do. Lack of sleep can also make it increasingly difficult to engage in tasks, we are easily distracted and our focus is quickly lost.

We can change what has been holding you back, so you can start to move forward.  When we are feeling in a calm and relaxed state rational thoughts can take over from our illogical thought patterns that have been holding us back.  Recognising how we feel when we are making a positive step forward, encourages us to repeat that experience, allowing us to feel more energised and motivated

Find a time to suit your schedule. On average clients see me for between 8-12 sessions, but this can vary. Phobias and smoking take 3 sessions.

 

Session Format

Each session lasts for 1 hour, focusing on your positive changes, refocusing your goals and the steps you can take to achieve these.
