Anxiety is very closely linked with stress.  Anxiety is a general term for several disorders that cause nervousness, fear, apprehension and worrying.   These disorders affect how we feel and behave and can cause physical symptoms. 

Mild anxiety is vague and unsettling, a general feeling of unease such as when preparing for a job interview, a driving test or an exam.  Whilst severe anxiety can seriously affect day-to-day living, sometimes resulting in panic attacks.

Physical symptoms may include dizziness, tiredness, palpitations, muscles aches, shaking, dry mouth, sweating, shortness of breath, feeling sick and stomach aches, headaches or difficulty falling or staying asleep.

Emotional symptoms may include restlessness, a sense of dread, feeling constantly “on edge”, difficulty concentrating, irritability, feeling overwhelmed, unable to cope with day to day tasks, being out of control, crying or obsessive/repetitive behaviour.

Hypnotherapy can be an effective treatment in reducing feelings of anxiety.  It works to change a person’s thoughts and feelings associated with it.  We aim to reduce negative thought patterns, focusing on what has gone well, using your strengths and resources to make positive moves forwards.  When our mind is feeling calm and relaxed we can think more logically and rationally about the choices we want to make.

I was unsure what to expect but Amanda is very charming and friendly she makes you feel at ease straight away. Amanda’s therapy has helped retrain my brain to use the logical part to deal with problems. I am calmer, sleeping better and feel able to cope with all that life throws at me. Find a time to suit your schedule. On average clients see me for between 8-12 sessions, but this can vary. Phobias and smoking take 3 sessions.

 

Session Format

Each session lasts for 1 hour, focusing on your positive changes, refocusing your goals and the steps you can take to achieve these. Each session ends with 20 minutes of hypnotherapy.
